Eight Eastland-Fairfield Career & Technical Schools Marketing & Logistics Management satellite program students have qualified for the DECA State Conference by placing or winning their respective regional competition.
Of the eight students who qualified for the DECA state conference, four were crowned regional champions in their event, including three individuals and one team.
Students in the Business Professionals of America (BPA) career technical student organization showed well at the Region 14 held during the first week of February.
Of the 91 total students that will compete at the state conference, 39 walked away as first-place finishers in their respective events. Twenty-seven of those event winners came from the Multimedia satellite program hosted at Pickerington High School North, including three team victories. The remaining winners and state qualifiers are students from the Programming & Software Design, Medical Office, or Interactive Media programs housed at Eastland Career Center.
Coming out of the Winter Break, Fairfield Career Center voted on its new SkillsUSA local officers. Congratulations to our amazing students who are stepping up and taking a leadership role on their campus and for their local SkillsUSA chapter!

What is your favorite memory as a student?
Being on the student advisory committee and being a student ambassador and helping with the special events at the school and showing the public what we were all about.
What are you up to?
I currently work at Teays Valley Local Schools at one of the elementary schools, am very involved in church, and I love trying new coffee shops I’ve never been to before.
What advice would you give to students and future EFCTS graduates?
You get what you put into your future. Give it all your best and it will come back around.
We have so many amazing students that have completed an Eastland-Fairfield program and then go on to do amazing things!

Here are a few of the top stories from February from around Eastland-Fairfield!
Students from the EFCTS Bioscience satellite program recently presented their senior capstone projects to a group of industry leaders. Twenty-two students participated in the annual capstone project event. Nearly twenty individuals, ranging from professors, doctors, and research specialists from the biology, science, and medical fields, participated as judges in the competition.
The top three projects were selected, and those students were rewarded for their work with scholarship money donated by the Gahanna Rotary. Additionally, Ohio Life Sciences donated two $500 scholarships to the project which best represented the biotechnology industry in Ohio.

Students in the Teaching Prep satellite program, located at Teays Valley and Hamilton Twp. high schools, took the spotlight at the recent OACTE Conference. In the Student Showcase, students from both sections presented projects, real-world skills relating to their program, and engaged with policymakers that can help shape the future of education. What an experience and opportunity for our students to make an impact for their futures and the futures of school-aged children around the state!

Recently, Eastland Career Center hosted a Career, Job, and College Fair on its campus to allow students to explore many of the opportunities available to them across all of the E's and across different career pathways. We are very thankful to our business partners and local colleges and universities for taking the time to connect with our students and showcase how they can help open doors for them after they graduate!
We invite our stakeholders and community members to join us for our third Grounds with Groves session! Let's talk about education, Eastland-Fairfield, and everything in between over some coffee!

On February 26-27, Culinary Arts students held their first dining service at the Heritage Room since returning from Winter Break. The students opened second semester service with a theme we haven't featured before ... Australian "Down Under Dining"!
Connor L. (Reynoldsburg) told us he chose an Australian theme to honor his late grandfather, who was Australian-born. The "Shrimp on the Barbie", Hop Hop Sliders (kangaroo), and steak were big favorites of those dining in. Well done!
